About Josh…
" I started my career in Hospitality after returning from a lengthy stint of travelling, in February 2008 at the Holiday Inn Darling Harbour as a Porter/Valet. Within 6 months I was asked to apply for a Concierge Team Leader position. From there, I realised that I wanted to continue in my new found role as Hotel Concierge as I was able to "make" a guests stay and found each day was different from the last. I also had the pleasure to be surrounds by mysterious Concierge with Golden Keys and knew I wanted to earn my own set of Keys.
After 3 years of running the team at Holiday Inn Darling Harbour, I felt it was time for a move and a bigger challenge.
In 2011, I packed up the car and drove across our amazing country and resettled in Perth, Western Australia where I accepted a position at the Hyatt Regency Perth.
Learning a new city from scratch was an extremely difficult task, which, I dived head first. In 2012, the hotel decided to restructure and I was asked to head up the Concierge Department with my colleague Peter. This was an extremely large challenge in which we designed the department to which we wanted. During this time, I had the opportunity to work very closely with the other Concierge in Perth, namely Andre Burford and Scott Hulme, and helped in creating monthly Concierge Breakfasts, to promote the closer workings of the Perth Concierge.
Andre, was one of the key people in assisting me with my goal of "earning my own set of Keys" and helped both myself and Scott every step of the way to prepare us as best he could. In Nov 2013, I and Scott were invited to apply and were successful in joining the prestigious Les Clefs d'Or.
To obtain one of my career goals so early in my career, was an extremely pleasing event and proved that I had made the right decision of continuing in Hospitality.
After 3 years in Perth and reaching all I could do over West, I applied and was accepted for a role as Assistant Concierge at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney.
In 2014, I backed up the car (again) and drove back to Sydney to work under Jorge Sousa and David Luff.
My new goal is to learn from the experiences of Jorge and the Les Clefs d'Or Members in Sydney and hopefully become a Chef Concierge.
Who knows where this new goal will take me.
