About Graham…
My career in hotels began when I attended a careers open day at the University of Canberra in 2004. Having previously worked in the fast food industry I thought I could utilise some of the skills I had learnt in another sector of the hospitality industry. Enrolling into a Batchelor of Hotel Management was the logical choice.
While completing this degree students were encouraged to gain employment in a hotel environment and so my first hotel job was as a receptionist at the former Chifley on Northbourne in Canberra. After 12 months there, I applied for a position at Canberra’s premier property Hyatt Hotel Canberra where I gained experience as a Porter and later a Concierge. In 2007, at around the same time I completed my degree, I successfully applied for the position of Chief Concierge. Working at Hyatt Hotel Canberra gave me great experience, particularly in assisting the many high-level delegations that came to stay from around the world.
I moved to Brisbane in 2009 after meeting my now wife on an overseas holiday. We married in 2011 and have since started a family. My arrival to Brisbane coincided with the position of Chief Concierge becoming available at the Emporium Hotel. I was successful in my application and remain there to this day.
I enjoy the challenges, rewards and comradery that come with working in hotels and more specifically as a Chief Concierge. Becoming a Les Clefs d'Or member has cemented my commitment to the profession and I look foward to making a positive contribution for many years to come.
