About Shane…

I started my hospitality journey in 1984, at the Manly Pacific International hotel, located on famous Manly beach. Growing up locally gave me a wonderful sense of history and pride in the local area, something I loved sharing with our many guests.

In 1996 I was successful in my application for membership to Les Clefs d’Or Australia and was subsequently presented with my golden keys by then International President Tony Facciolo. Later that year I hosted and attended my first Annual General Meeting at the Manly Pacific and as it happened my first AGM Dinner also proved to be the first date I had with my future wife Rosemary.

​Thereafter I worked in a number of hotels in the Sydney city and served on various Concierge Ball committees. I also had the pleasure of assisting Chris O’Dondghue as his Assistant Secretary and later as his Treasurer under his Presidency and then served as Treasurer under Colin Toomey.

​By 2004 after the birth of our first child Liam, the pull of the ocean was too great so off to the Gold Coast we went. This meant a new adventure for me at the Sofitel Gold Coast and being back home for Rosemary.

​The Gold Coast has so many things to offer, with sun surf & golf making it a hard place to live! I divide my time between work, Broadbeach nippers with Liam and following the Titans (rugby league) – although to be honest my true loyalties come out when the Manly Sea Eagles come to town...
